The Board of Directors of
Community Living Newmarket/Aurora District
Announces a 5-Year Strategic Plan
September, 2009
In continuing efforts to enhance quality of service for those supported by the organization, our Board of Directors engaged a consulting firm to develop a Strategic Plan.
The 5-year plan – product of a wide-ranging survey of all our Community Living Association stakeholders – was presented to the membership at the 2009 Annual General Meeting, on September 23rd, at 460 Oak Street in Newmarket.
Feedback from survey respondents will help ensure that the strategic plan builds on our current strengths by:
1) Strengthening self-advocacy
2) Engaging families in creative ways
3) Introducing innovative services
4) Enhancing organizational effectiveness
5) Expanding community awareness
6) Measuring quality with Personal Outcomes
These six strategies will guide us in meeting the future growth and potential of our Association. A special steering committee composed of stakeholder representatives will track progress over the next five years to ensure the plan’s goals are reached, and an independent body will conduct a final assessment in 2015.
We have adopted this Strategic Plan as a blueprint for advancing the interests and well-being of the people we support, their families, the Association and its community. It identifies what needs improvement, explores proven practices, sets a time limit for action, and ensures that results are validated objectively.
More importantly, this Strategic Plan is a declaration of intent that seeks to inspire exemplary leadership. By striving to create "A Culture of We", our Association will challenge all stakeholders to work together in a manner that respects and values everyone’s contributions.
We are committed to nurturing this vision of co-operation and collaboration, confident that it will allow us to accomplish much more together than we ever could individually. In asking all stakeholders to adopt the Strategic Plan, therefore, we are inviting everyone to adopt it personally.
The Strategic Plan is our blueprint for improving the lives of people with disabilities supported by Community Living in the Newmarket-Aurora and surrounding community.
